iPhone 4S. Dual-core A5 chip. All-new 8MP camera and optics. iOS 5 and iCloud. And introducing Siri. It's the most amazing iPhone yet.

Siri.

Simply ask Siri to help you send messages, set reminders or search information. It understands not only what you say, but also what you mean, so you can speak naturally. It can even use information from your iPhone – such as your locations, contacts and contact relationships – to provide intelligent, personal assistance1.

Dual-core A5 chip.

iPhone 4S is the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet. The A5 chip delivers up to 2x faster performance, so it's quicker at launching apps, loading pages in Safari and taking photos. And with up to 7x faster graphics, gameplay is even more amazing2.

8MP camera and HD video recording.

With a custom-lens and a new 8-megapixel sensor, iPhone 4S takes photos unlike any you've ever seen from a mobile device. You can also record 1080p HD video with image stabilisation.

iOS 5.

iOS 5 is not only advanced, it's also incredibly easy to use. And with over 200 new features, including Notification Centre, Reminders and Twitter integration, iOS 5 makes iPhone even better.

iCloud.

iCloud stores your music, photos, documents and more, and wirelessly pushes them to all devices. Automatic, effortless and seamless – it just works. iCloud is the easiest way to manage your content, because now you don't have to3.

App Store.

Browse more than 500,000 apps on the App Store. You'll find great apps for just about anything: games, social networking, travel, business, news, weather, sport and more. Search category or check out the Top Paid and Top Free charts4.

Why you'll love an iPhone.

There are so many reasons why iPhone is the world's best-selling smartphone. It's so easy to use, you don't need a manual. The hardware and software are engineered by Apple to work together perfectly. And iPhone gives you truly long battery life. Some people settle for any smartphone. But iPhone owners love their iPhone5.

iPhone will lock itself to the network of the first SIM card that is used in the phone. Subsequently attempting to use it on any other network, for example by replacing the SIM card, may mean it becomes permanently unusable. SIM free iPhones can only be used with a UK-network SIM card, and will not accept foreign SIM cards.

1. Siri is available only on iPhone 4S and requires internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area. Mobile data charges may apply.
2. Compared with iPhone 4.
3. iTunes in the Cloud music feature are not currently available in all countries. iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd or 4th generation), iPad or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7. Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.
4. Content sold separately. Available on iTunes. Title availability is subject to change. App count refers to the total number of apps worldwide.
5. Battery life varies by use and configuration.

Fantastic phone

This is a beautiful glass and steel object that has been designed, re-designed, modelled, thought about, agonised over and produced with intense focus and attention to detail.
That same level of care has gone into the iPhone's user interface, music store, app store and the way it integrates and syncs.
I don't think you can say that about any other phone, I love it.

Don't believe the hype with the iPhone 5 and spend more money on a phone with less memory. Have it all with iPhone 4 s 64gb. Every bit as good, just a smaller screen. So if you are a non gamer like me and feel you do need to follow fashions then get this.

Ive read alot of very positive reviews about the iphone 4s and i cant understand why.maybe i got unlucky with my phone but even so im very dissapointed. The price of this phone is frankly STUPID fair enough it has lots of features but even so a price tag of over £600 is madness also the touch screen is completely rubbish and very unresponsive as i said maybe i just got a bad phone but ive had to have 3 batteries since purchase about 4 months ago!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the worst thing is 'siri' the voice response system which when i asked how is the weather in llandudno? it replied no i do not like water?! overall i would not reccommend this phone its just one problem after another. TOTALLY RUBBISH INFACT SHOCKINGLY AWFULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Externally the iPhone 4S looks almost exactly the same as the iPhone 4... in fact physically it is the same, apart from the slightly lowered volume buttons and the new antenna pieces. The sharp and crisp Retina display remains superb quality but a little disappointingly proportioned at just 3.5". Inside the phone are marked hardware improvements. I was impressed by how much smoother and faster the Apple A5 processor made the iPhone run, even though Apple have underclocked it to conserve battery life. You'll notice the benefit when switching between apps or playing power-intensive games.
The new 8MP camera has a better lens and improved optics, for clearer photos with well-balanced light and contrast. You can now capture and play 1080p HD videos, and the video stabilisation, auto-enhance and face detection software make this a capable camera. The front-facing lens hasn’t been touched, it’s still VGA quality and I would have liked at least a Megapixel or two more, as self-portraits come out a little grainy due to the lack of pixels. The integration of Siri, your new personal assistant, has been greatly improved with the latest iOS software update. Not all of Siri’s features are available in the UK yet, and activating it will impact on your iPhone’s battery life. A quick tip – I would suggest investing in a protective case to keep the glass back plate from being susceptible to scratches or cracks.

Sim-Free, NOT!
Fred
from London
,21 March 2012
I rate this product down solely with respect to it not being a sim-free model in the truest sense of the term.
What you actually get is a phone which will only allow the use of the network provider to whom the first sim-card inserted belongs to.
Why pay full price for a 'NOT really' sim-free phone and have it lock itself on to a network the first time you use it rather than get one at a much cheaper price under contract from a provider.
This shortcoming should be stated much clearer on the product page and not hidden in the disclaimer bullet points section of the small print.

The IPhone 4s is easy to use, it has much better sound quality that the IPhone 4. The graphics are brilliant and it is extremely fast, when loading to the internet. Over all it is just a brilliant phone! My Blind Fiancé has one and it has made his life so much easier, he can do online shopping, check his emails, he can buy me gifts as a surprise using the amazon app. It is an absolutely Awesome Phone!

The Siri features are not as good as the advert suggests when you live in the UK. Searching for businesses can only be in the USA. Siri has problems understanding accents and is very limited. Wish I'd gone for the much cheaper iPhone 4, I hope they update the software to improve Siri.

Amazing. Truly amazing.

I got my iPhone on Oct. 14th. No regrets. It's the best iPhone ever. I love Siri, and FaceTime. My favorite things about my iPhone 4s. The 64GB is really great, I never worry about not having enough memory anymore! Coming from an iPhone 3GS, it's magnificent, beautiful design, incredible fast upgrade and perfect screen size (regardless of what those Android fans say about the sizing of the screen) I think it's the best purchase I've ever done. The downside is the battery and no 4G, NFC technology (would be really helpful) flash (although flash makes your device really hot, from my experience anyway) 4G isn't going to be available in the UK until 2013 anyway. I think Apple's just waiting for the right time to release to their devices as it isn't really widely ready here in the UK. But from a 15 year old's view, it's a beautiful device, and would recommend to any of my friends.

O how I have missed you iPhone. Had iPhone 3G but then went to widows HTC D2, not a bad phone but a little slow and music was not a strong point, Facebook would never update and videos never wanted to play so had to store in photo album. How it's lovley to be back in control with flawless music, videos facebook and just everything else. Never thought I'd fall back in love with a EX but this love affair is for life along with iPad and imax 27" thanks apple. X

This is my fourth iPhone and by far the best so far I will be intrigued to see what future improvements can be made, I await the challenge. Bring it on apple there must come a point when further development will be reduced continually as miniaturisation meets the saturation point and development must halt? I wait with interest to see when the peak is reached.

Excellent for web related, not so good for Agenda
Sinky

Web browsing and facebooking extremely user friendly. Phone itself is also very good, however the calender is not as good as others. Timings to 5minutes slots, notes editing is poor (unable to move the curser to select a specific point in text) and when synchronising with Outlook the text formating is altered so that it looks a mess!
Overall though given the agenda drawback, I still like the phone and have worked out ways of getting around the drawbacks.

How did I live without it?
Chickenfreak
from Hampshire

I'm very much enjoying my new iPhone, and after a few initial hiccups am very happy with it. Had a few problems getting started, as this is my first online mobile - could have done with a more step-by-step guide for beginners about how to synch phone to laptop, and how to get into and use all the apps etc. At first it wouldn't recognise my Apple ID and I spent frustrating hours trying to change/update this on the Apple site. The Apple web page took so long to load the info about the new password that it had timed out before completing the task. However once up and running all was OK, except I'm still not sure about using the iCloud, and not convinced that Siri is any use except as a bit of fun. His American accent doesn't seem to understand my Hampshire one. eg 'Hi Cass' came out as 'High Gas' - on the whole, faster just to type my own texts! I do enjoy being able to follow my forums on the Tapatalk app, makes a coffee break more interesting and saves electricity in not starting up my laptop to get my fix.
All in all, though, an excellent purchase. Brings this granny into the modern age along with the grandchildren!

Review 20 for Apple iPhone 4S 64GB
Accept no substitute
Cushers
from London
,25 October 2011
The iPhone really is the 'mac'-daddy (see what I did there) of the smartphone universe. The ease of use and the, what feels like endless, number apps available make this the perfect lifestyle tool.
The phone is intuitive and the texting is easier than I thought it would be, and in fact I find it far better than any previous phones in seeing historical texts. So it passes the basic phone test with flying colours.
The much fabled 'Siri' is a novelty - nothing more at the moment - but clearly this is a beta to get an improved service. Asking it to send a text to someone (by their name) and then just speaking the text is pretty cool and really does work. Other than that it's about trying to get it answer stupid questions for fun.
Only issue is the battery life. To be fair I have been so excited I have not been off it... and if you have push notifications and location checks running in the background then of course the battery is going to get a bit of a pounding.
In short, if you can afford it then there really is no substitute. It is mighty expensive compared to the other options out there so this can be a barrier. However if money is less of a concern then really do not look elsewhere. You will not be diappointed.
